When God's People Worship.....
I read an article this afternoon that started, "When God's people worship....."

I think the ending of that statement should be this:

When God's people worship, GOD should be worshipped. GOD should be brought pleasure. GOD should hear the hearts of His people crying out praise and glory to His name alone. GOD should be the one thought and focus of His people.

All the rest - our healing, our receiving, our enjoyment, our being with Him - is just icing on the cake. Good icing (I like icing), but icing nonetheless. Everything in this life is still and always will be all about HIM.

Including His worship.

"You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honour and power. For You created everything, and it is for Your pleasure that they exist and were created." (Revelation 4:11)

Smallness
So, it's probably high time I kicked in again and starting blogging. If you're reading this, thanks for not giving up on me! I am going to leave the comments off for a while - feel free to read and think about whatever is written and let it impact you if it is able. I do love each of you and love to read how things have impacted all of you, but the comments will come back at a later date....

I've been reading a book by Louie Giglio called I Am Not But I Know I AM. Brilliant title. I figured the title rather said it all and have been putting off reading the book, but as I started it today I was awestruck by how much I sometimes forget that I am infintely small. For those of you that have met me, I do know that I am short (thank you) - that's not what I mean. I mean that in light of the vastness of God and His incredible ability to juggle every ball ever created, I am nothing. And despite this seeming like it would be a rather depressing concept to come to terms with, it is in fact absolutely freeing and leaves me with this unbelievable excitement.

I do not have to have it all together. (Good thing, too!)
I do not have to know the entire plan before it is executed.
I do not have to be able to put people (including myself) back together again.
I do not have to win every battle (though I do sometimes have to fight the battles).
I do not have to know everything.
I do not have to do everything.

GOD has it all together (and He knows where it is, too).
GOD knows the entire plan.
GOD is the One who puts people back together again.
GOD wins every battle (that's true - I've read the end of the black leather book).
GOD knows everything.
GOD does everything.

That last one is so great to my mind. I don't know how, but I do know that Moses did not free the Israelites from the hand of Pharaoh - God did. I also know that God did not need Moses to execute that plan at all. He did choose him, but He didn't need him there at all. God did all the work - He's big. Moses was obedient - he's small.

The good news is that I am small.
I am a servant.
I am not responsible to make the plan, only to hear the plan and be OBEDIENT.

Which reminds me of the first few chapters of Hebrews that I also read today. It's all about obedience. And there is a promise there that those that are obedient will enter into God's rest (Hebrews 4). It's funny how the idea of following someone else is in fact a recipe for rest, whether temporal or eternal.

Still, I like it.
And I like being small.
Hallelujah.

Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. (Hebrews 4:11-13)
