STEALING AWAY
There's something sweet about stealing away to spend a few minutes with Jesus. Near the beginning of my work day today, He asked me to 'steal away' into the empty Chapel with my guitar and just be with Him. I was in a prayer meeting at the time. I was at work at the time (teachers rarely have time to go to the bathroom in the middle of the day - my record so far is an eleven-hour day without a potty break - let alone go sit alone in a room "doing nothing productive" (yes, that's why it's in quotes) for 20 minutes or more). I was supposed to be prepping a sound system, bands, and my own focus on a day of leading worship at all the Chapel services for the school.

But I heard the little voice and stole away. And what a sweet time it was. Just Him and I. Him speaking, me listening. Me worshipping, Him receiving.

Sometimes I want to live my life "stolen away" and in the arms of my Jesus. It's not practical - He's called me to a purpose in this life. But the stolen moments are sweet. And they are so, so important.

Steal away.

Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.
(Song of Songs 2:13b)

SOMETIMES IT'S SIMPLE
Why is it that sometimes in life our relationship with God can be so completely complex? Faith, doubt, tests and the need to only trust all pile one onto another in a seemingly endless array of questions and struggles.

Why is it that at other times, it all becomes crystal clear and nothing in the world can be simpler?

"My chains are gone, I've been set free...."

(And seriously, why is it that when I finally stated that I was going to have no time to blog I'm full of blogging ideas and time to write them down?)

TRUE LOVE CANNOT BE QUENCHED
For anyone who hasn't heard, I'm taking a short breather from the blogging thing until the New Year, while I move and settle into my new home, travel to Kiev and do a bunch of other things.

I was, however, pondering this scripture this week with my students, and its strength and truth have stayed with me:

"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised." (Song of Songs 8:7)

This is the love of the Lord for each of us. We are not laid aside, we are not forgotten. We are loved jealously, with fire and as strong as death.

NOTHING can overcome this love.
